NoDa's New Counters Work a Double Shift

"You can come in for coffee in the morning, stay for lunch, meet friends for a drink in the afternoon and come back for dinner or a late-night cocktail." Chris Coleman, executive chef and partner of The Goodyear House, told CharlotteFive in August about Goodyear Bar, the new spot next door to his restaurant. He could have been describing most of what opened in NoDa this year.

Look at the 2026 openings and rebrands as a group and a pattern shows up. The new places don't pick a lane. They pour espresso early, switch to cocktails later and stay open through the hours in between. NoDa built its name on gallery crawls, live music and late patios. This year it added a morning, and it all happened within a few blocks of North Davidson Street.

The cocktail parlor that now opens at 8 a.m.

The clearest example is at 3024 N. Davidson St. Chief's Modern Cocktail Parlor opened there in early 2025 and held its last service on Sunday, Aug. 23. Four days later, on Thursday, Aug. 27, Goodyear Bar opened in the same building as an extension of The Goodyear House.

The building used to be built around evening drinks. Now it opens with Night Swim Coffee's espresso in the morning and turns into a full-service bar after dark. Its posted hours run 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday. That's at least 14 hours a day from one counter.

The menu covers both ends of that window. Lauren Long, The Goodyear House's bar and event manager, runs the evening cocktail program, which includes espresso, chai and matcha martinis. Light bites come from The Goodyear House menu, including the shaken fry bag, the Goopy burger and al pastor wings. The martini list leans on coffee, chai and matcha, which pretty much sums up the concept.

The coffee shop that becomes a lounge

Café Audire works the same double shift from the other side. It opened in June 2026 at 4090 Raleigh St. in The Pass, a 12-acre mixed-use development near the Sugar Creek light rail station, and held its grand opening in July.

In the daytime it's a coffee shop with a record collection. The 1,107-square-foot mid-century modern room seats about 30 inside, with a few patio seats. You can rent portable Sound Burger record players with headphones and listen alone or with a group. Axios ordered the Americola for $5.50 and the ube latte for $6. QCity Metro described the Americola as espresso, vanilla creamer and Coke. It also mentioned the free parking and strong wifi, which makes the place useful for a weekday laptop session.

In the evening it changes. QCity Metro's Aug. 6 review lists coffee hours of 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, then a cocktail lounge from 6 p.m. to midnight with a '60s- and '70s-inspired menu of martinis and Manhattans. Weekend hours vary. The reviewer stopped by in the afternoon and hadn't tried the evening service yet. If you're planning a night around it, check the café's Instagram first. Owner Vishal Sanghvi told Axios he wants the café to be "like a living room for people in the community." In the August review, listening nights and record swaps were still listed as plans. In June, Axios reported that a weekend pop-up brunch would roll out in the coming months.

Breakfast through the old doughnut window

Goodyear Bar and Café Audire both cover the whole day. Olivelli Deli fills the gap between them. On July 1 it started serving sandwiches and soft serve from the walk-up window that used to belong to Reigning Doughnuts, at 3120 N. Davidson St., Suite 100. Its website lists hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, with breakfast until 11 a.m.

A walk-up window that opened in the morning back when it sold doughnuts is still serving breakfast. It's a small detail, but NoDa didn't have many breakfast stops a few doors from the galleries, and this keeps one going.

Heist brought its Sunday back

Heist Brewery's main NoDa space reopened this year after nearly two years closed, and its brewing moved to Barrel Arts. When Axios previewed the reopening in May, it described more seating, a refreshed patio and the return of brunch. Heist now lists Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Its regular hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.

The day, mapped by the clock

Put the posted hours side by side and NoDa's new stretch of daytime is easy to see. This uses each business's most recent published schedule as of early October 2026.

Time What's open among this year's openings
7:30 a.m. weekdays Café Audire starts coffee service
8 a.m. Goodyear Bar opens Monday through Saturday. Olivelli Deli opens Tuesday through Sunday
9 a.m. Sunday Goodyear Bar opens
10 a.m. Sunday Heist Brewery brunch begins
11 a.m. Olivelli's breakfast ends. Heist opens Monday through Saturday
3 p.m. Café Audire's weekday coffee hours end. Heist's Sunday brunch wraps
6 p.m. weekdays Café Audire's cocktail lounge opens
8 p.m. Olivelli Deli closes
Midnight Café Audire's lounge and Goodyear Bar close Monday through Thursday. Heist closes Friday and Saturday
1 a.m. Friday and Saturday Goodyear Bar closes

The table has one weekday gap, between 3 and 6 p.m., when Café Audire switches over. Goodyear Bar and Heist are both open through those hours.

The rebrand still building toward the same model

Relic NoDa looks headed the same way, though it isn't there yet. The NoDa Company Store, which started in a restored mill house in 2016, became Relic NoDa at 3221 Yadkin Ave. this summer. There are two spaces under one roof. Relic is the indoor bar for wine, local beer and house-made sangria. Riot is the garden patio, which stays relaxed during the day and hosts movie nights and vintage vinyl dance parties after dark.

Co-owner Jesse Fell called the July rebrand the first step in a three-phase plan. A full coffee and cocktail program comes next. The last phase adds a working kitchen and turns the space into a farm-to-table restaurant "featuring everything we grow on our farm." Relic's current website lists sangria, sake cocktails, teas, wine and beer, and doesn't mention a coffee program yet. The plan points toward the same all-day setup the newer places opened with. For now, the patio is still the main draw.

October's calendar, with somewhere to go before and after

NoDa's event calendar still happens mostly in the evening. The difference this fall is that the new spots cover the hours around those events. Here's what's on the neighborhood calendar this month, with the closest new spot for each.

  • Thursday, Oct. 15, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Charlotte Studio Artists hosts its third-Thursday NoDa Culture Crawl and an artist talk at 3045 N. Davidson St. Its exhibition "Black, White, and Everything in Between" is up there through Nov. 7. Goodyear Bar is a short walk down the same street and stays open until midnight on Thursdays.
  • Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17 and 18. The free Charlotte Chalk Art Festival comes to NoDa Brewing Company North End at 150 W 32nd St. with live art, music, vendors and family activities. Olivelli's breakfast window opens at 8 a.m. both days.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 20, 6 to 8 p.m. Charlotte Studio Artists holds an exhibition event at Heist Brewery, 2909 N. Davidson St., Suite 200.
  • Saturday, Oct. 24, 5 p.m. The NoDaWeen Freaky 5K costume run starts and finishes at Great Wagon Road Distilling Company, 610 Anderson St., with a post-race party.
  • Sunday, Oct. 25. The NoDa Downtown Candy Crawl takes over downtown NoDa. Heist's Sunday brunch runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the same day.
  • Saturday, Oct. 31. The NoDaWeen House Decorating Contest wraps up the month.

The Chalk Art Festival and the Candy Crawl both fall on weekends, which is when the new morning hours matter most. Before this year, a Sunday morning near North Davidson had fewer options. Now there's an 8 a.m. sandwich window, a 9 a.m. espresso bar and a 10 a.m. brunch within a few blocks.
